Seasonal Planetarium & Laser Shows
Your kids will LOVE the programs at the local Ocean County Planetarium. They have kid-friendly programs and events scheduled practically every single day. Spend an enjoyable evening or afternoon “Under the Stars” at the Robert J. Novins Planetarium on Ocean County College’s Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River, NJ. One of the largest and most active planetariums in the state, the Novins Planetarium offers a variety of children’s, laser, and seasonal shows, plus an array of special events. Imagine learning the “Secret of the Cardboard Rocket” or going on an inter-planetary adventure with Sesame Street’s Big Bird! Families can enjoy investigating the real night sky through the lens of a telescope perched outside on the Planetarium lawn. Year-Round Arcade Games
Shore kids LOVE the boardwalk. The Casino Pier has amazing things things to do all year round–not just in the summertime! The Casino Arcade is jam packed with all of the latest video & redemption games of chance, along with all of the classic slot machines, skee ball and pin ball games. No matter what your child’s age, they will appreciate the variety of games in our arcade. They can win tickets that are redeemable for great prizes, take a ride on our antique carousel or compete against each other in one on our numerous racing video games.
Weekends at Cattus Island
Nature Walk–Be a part of a 38-year Ocean County tradition! Join one of Cooper Environmental Center’s naturalists and follow in the footsteps of such legendary local environmentalists. Live Animal Talk–The reptiles are back in their tanks in the Cooper Environmental Center; join one of their park naturalists as they dispel the myths and fears of reptiles. They will be bringing out live snakes and turtles for you to observe. They will explore the characteristics and conservation of these native species. Turtle Feeding– Are you curious about the habits and habitats of Ocean County’s turtles? Join park naturalists as they demonstrate the feeding and care of some of our native reptiles. DATES: Saturdays and Sundays TIME: 1:30 – 2:00 pm AGE: All – FREE

Historical Sightseeing Cruise on the River Lady
Kid-friendly educational outings are a parent’s dream! A tremendous amount of history has taken place along the Toms River and Barnegat Bay. You r kids can learn all about the area’s past during this cruise, as the captain gives a fascinating narration. “Points of Interest” maps can be obtained for $2.00 each, as a visual aid, if you want to follow along during the trip. Dry snacks and drinks, as well as River Lady t-shirts, and insulated cups, are available, for purchase, at the bar. No food or beverages may be brought aboard.

Victorian Museum Tour
Encourage your kids to learn more about the area where they live! Ocean County Historical Society is a Victorian museum located in the historic Pierson-Sculthorp House in Toms River, NJ, containing artifacts from Ocean County’s past. Individual tours are conducted Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3 pm and the 1st Saturday of each month from 1-4 pm. Larger groups are welcome, call their office at 732-341-1880 for arrangements.

Naval Base Walking Tours
Your kids will never forget this Ocean County family outing! Come visit the new Navy Lakehurst Heritage Center at Joint Base Lakehurst. Two weeks advanced notice is necessary to book a tour. Walking tours include: The Hindenburg Crash Site, The Navy Lakehurst Heritage Center, The Ready Room, The POW-MIA Room, Historic Hangar One.
Automobile Museum Tours
Looking for things to do with your car-loving kids? Did you know that Ocean County has it’s very own car museum? Experienced antique car collectors are present to explain the historical significance of their remarkable collection of automobiles. The Museum is open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, 12 noon to 4 pm, and Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. And it is always free admission so bring family & friends.
